SO, elise is my artist. she's really good. i first knew that she was going to be able to draw incredible when she was two years old. she was up in her room for some quiet time when she came down stairs, threw a stack of papers at me all covered in faces. not stick figure faces, but real looking faces (as real as you can get for a two year old anyway). it was terribly creepy and amazingly cool at the same time. from that point on, i knew she was going to be an artist.
She's grown into her creative outlet. she prefers animae to anything else and can draw you a mean (mean as in cool) cat. so when she was chosen this year out of her whole school to represent her class at the local art walk, i was impressed but not surprised. her art teacher adores her after all. elise is good at drawing AND kissing butt. only 6 students from her school were picked and elise was the only from her class. i know this is only the beginning of what she is going to accomplish with this talent.
last week, i decided it would be nice to have just the two of us go to the ceremony and then go to dinner. as much as my daughter drives me crazy, when you get her alone she's pretty cool. i had fun talking with her and observing the many pictures on display. it made me wish that i had more time like that with her.
elise has been begging for over a year now to eat at the cheesecake factory. since all i think of is lard when i hear cheesecake factory, i've never been keen on eating there. but this was her special day so we went. and i will say, that will be the last time i eat there. seriously. never again.
elise and her fantastic teacher. we are really going to miss her.
so proud of her.
