it took me a few times messing around with ingredients and oven temperatures but this is my version of the cereal...
**everything i used is organic except for the honey**
4 cups oats
1 cup whole flax seeds
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/3 cup concentrated apple juice (white grape juice works as well)
1/2 cup dry milk
1/3 cup honey
3 Tablespoons good quality vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (this isn't in the nature's path cereal)
1 cup pumpkin seeds
1 cup brown rice puffs
1 cup dried cranberries (this also isn't in the nature's path cereal) mix sugar, juice, dry milk and honey in saucepan, and heat until sugar dissolves. combine other dry ingredients except brown rice puffs and dried cranberries in a mixing bowl. pour sugar mixture slowly over dry mixture and blend well. place on a cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 30-40 minutes stirring every ten minutes.
when done cooking, put in a large bowl and add the brown rice puffs and dried cranberries.
stir well and then store in a glass jar. it doesn't last very long!
my kids like vanilla cranberry granola.
5 cups oatmeal
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/3 cup apple juice
1/2 cup dry milk
1/3 cup honey
3 Tbsp good quality vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup dried cranberries
the process is the same as above. add the dried cranberries after the granola has cooked.
yum!
