philadelphia...part 2: wesley's birthday

SO, after we went to ben franklin's grave we were stopped in our tracks by the most amazing smells...

looking over we found a little building that consisted of only
SWEETS!

Align Centeroh my.
after so much walking we were a little bit hungry for some yummy treats. looking in the window we just couldn't decide. we first ordered a sugar cookie for me, a double chocolate cookie for michelle and a small apple pie crumble for the mister and elise to share.

after eating the amazingness of those addictive desserts, we looked at each other wanting more. i was weary at first, i NEVER let my kids eat like this but as elise so carefully put it "we're on vacation. can't we break the rules a little?"

i guess so, because against my better judgement i found myself buying more sweets than i care to say.(i refused to take a picture of the mound of sugar we purchased. you know, to avoid any incriminating evidence.) it was a $27 worth of sweets that i still find mind boggling! it's a good thing we didn't need to buy dinner that night since that was the amount we would have spent on REAL food.

i at least got wesley a carrot cupcake for his birthday.
we sung happy birthday to him

and offered up a sliver of what was available.
(that thing was MASSIVE)
he was timid at first, but then devoured the
whole lot.
mmm, i guess he is now tainted with
sugar, lard and artificial coloring.

it was worth it. we still talk about those treats
with awe and fondness.
