who knew woodstock would be so much fun?

SO, we were terrible this weekend by ditching saturday conference and going to the county fall festival instead. the mister was home for the first time in i don't know how long for conference weekend, and for some reason i just couldn't bare another repeat of last year. thus, we headed out to the event and we were pleasantly surprised at how much there was to do. we...

went horse back riding

michelle's turn

made bouquets of dried flowers and shrubs

went on an awesome hay ride

watched pygmy goats hang out on roof tops

learned how to weave seats on chairs

toured a 1692 house

made corn husk dolls

elise's turn to make a doll

learned about angora rabbits. who knew?

watched a blacksmith make some hooks.
then did some blacksmithing of our own.

elise's blacksmith creation--a hog

and learned all about honeybees.

then the stuff we didn't get pictures of: watching archaeologists look for artifacts, saw chickens, sheep, alpacas, painting pumpkins, made applesauce, made music with rustic instruments, watched basket weaving, and went in a basement to see terrapins, snakes, tree frogs and bones of different animals. holy moly were we busy!
we also found out about a local community garden that we were keen on joining and signed up to become bee keepers. the best part of all? it was FREE! so much fun!
we came home exhausted and a happy family. but, today is reserved for conference. all of it, with screaming kids or not. we'll see how it goes.
