movie review...

SO, sticking with a jane austen theme (who doesn't just love her?) i watched the not so recent but recent enough version of persuasion today...

persuasion and mansfield park are my two favorite stories by austen and this version was excellent. i have to admit it was refreshing to have a heroine (sally hawkins) that was normal looking. she could have been my friend, a neighbor or me for that matter. she had a healthy body weight and a charming look that wasn't extraordinaryly gorgeous but not horrible ugly. they did of course keep with a gorgeous captain wentworth (rupert penry-jones who i've loved since his MI-5 days) which is fine by me. :) the best part was that anthony head (from buffy) played sir walter elliot. that guy just cracks me up. though this wasn't a bbc adaptation they did a fantastic job for a short 100 minutes of pure heart ache and agony the romance is. and sally and rupert had impeccable chemistry! they did skip alot of the book, but they had the main plot points that were essential to the storyline. i want to own this movie. i guess that's not a surprise, it's jane austen after all!
