summer guests...part two

SO, the second guest we were lucky enough to have was my husband's dad.  he has never been able to visit us anywhere that we have lived before. so it was exciting to finally have him come.  even if it was for only two nights. (and one of those nights being in an ER with my daughter.)

summer nights here in this lovely town are amazing.  some of my favorite days are ones spent hanging out in our backyard making smore's and jumping on the trampoline.  which is exactly what we did while grandpa was here.

so this is what summer's are suppose to be like.  who knew???

summer guests...part one

SO, we have been lucky this year with family visiting us.  now that we live in such a beautiful place, people have an excuse to come visit.

our first guests were my sister-in-law, her husband and their sweet baby boy.  We had so much fun (as usual) and it was nice to be able to return the favor by entertaining them at our house this time.  

everyday some form of hike took place.  followed by lots and lots of eating, ending with some sort of game.  yeah, it was awesome.

 can't wait for them to come back.  seriously guys, come back soon!

everyday at 5pm...

SO, everyday my kids wake up at the crack of dawn.  really.  like 5:45am crack of dawn.  

then i try with all my might to get them to take a nap mid-morning or even early afternoon to no success.

but by 5pm this is what i find.  sigh.  trying to wake them is like trying to wake a dead person.  ridiculous.

when i finally get them awake, they cry for thirty minutes.  yep.  it's just joyful.

by bedtime they are wired and then they crash by 10pm.

only to start the process all over again the next day. 

 i need to get them out of the house at 5pm.  now if i could just find my motivation to do it....

does this bling make me look tacky?

SO, what do you do to ease the distress of losing your wedding ring???

why, you purchase an inspired twilight* engagement ring, of course!

*for the record, i fell in love with this ring before i read what it was called.  i DID NOT go out seeking a bella engagement ring.  

this ring almost makes up for my lost one.

ALMOST.

grounded...

SO, this is what happens when your 6 year old daughter purchases two $20 one direction books on your nook.

you get grounded.  for a week.

why such a harsh punishment?  because while she was playing a game on my tablet, she kept asking how to spell direction.  when i asked her why she needed to know, she said she was playing scrabble and thought she had that word.  

sigh.

yep. 

she new exactly what she was doing.

there was no accident about those purchases AT. ALL.

yet another birthday...

SO, today is my oldest child's birthday.  how on earth do i have a middle schooler?  

elise in the past year has grown up in so many ways.  she's matured, grown mentally and spiritually and i sometimes wonder how she turned out relatively normal. i mean, she is the product of my husband and myself.  i'm grateful none the less.  

i watch her from day to day helping me by my side.  taking care of her siblings, drawing her pictures and reading her books.  she is a well spoken, thoughtful, very insightful and smart spirit.  it's amazing the things she understands.  even from such a young age she understood things without having to explain to her why they were that way.  in many ways, she is an old soul.  i'm impressed God trusted me enough to place her in my life.
