SO, michelle has been begging for several months now about getting her ears pierced. i was somewhat reluctant because of the melt down elise had when she had hers done. let me refresh your memory of that drama.
when elise was four she started to ask for her ears pierced. i held off until she was five thinking i really wanted to make sure she was ready and wanting to do it. finally one day when we were at the mall i asked elise if she was ready to get her ears done. she excitedly said yes and off we went to the jewelery store. the lady did one ear and that was it. the melt down began. the screaming, the crying, the refusing to have her other ear done. two other girls waiting to get ear piercings ran out of that store so fast it wasn't even funny. the mister finally had to literally hold elise down while the lady did her other ear.
and then the cleaning regimen began. that was a nightmare. the constant screaming, crying, rolling around on the ground. holy crap i've never seen a child have such a low tolerance for pain. geesh. she only now has become fine with having earrings. 4. years. later! she now changes her earrings on her own and gets excited about wearing different kinds. finally.
so, you can imagine why i was really timid about doing that all over again. but michelle insisted. she swore that she would be fine and not cause a fuss. we went last night and she was right. she didn't even flinch. NOT. ONE. TEAR. she had even watched a girl before her crying and fuss but did that stop michelle? heck no. she was amazing. and she's still been amazing about it. i can tell it hurts her when i clean her ears and twist the studs but she keeps her mouth shut. i love this drama free (most of the time) little girl. GO MICHELLE and your beautiful new earrings!
